Spindleruv Mlyn belongs to one of the most popular skiing centre not just in Giant Mountains but in the whole Czech republic. Is situated about 715 – 1310 metres above the sea level where the Dolsky stream joins the river Labe. The town lies in the Giant Mountain National Park and extend in an area of 77 square kilometres and has got  4 parts – Predni Labska, Labska, Bedrichov and Svaty Petr. There lives about 1300 inhabitants during the year in Spindleruv Mlyn and in the season is increased for about 15 000 tourists.

This original mining and wood cutting settlement started at the end of the 18. century to be called Spindleruv Mlyn after a mill of a Špindl clan built on the river Labe. From the end of the 18. century and mainly from the 19. century, the people started to build more. From chalets became nice hotels and restaurants. Most of them were build between the 1. and 2. world war and others after the year 1945. The symbol of Spindleruv Mlyn is a white bridge built in 1911 and is situated directly in the town centre. Above the town centre you can also find a St. Petr and Paul’s church built in the year 1802.

In the old literature is Spindleruv Mlyn called as a Pearl of Giant Mountains because is situated in a beautiful area, in the middle of the highest czech mountains. In the time from May until October you can choose from a rich offer of tourist routes which will take you for a nice walk through the beautiful green valleys, mountains and woods. The best time for visitors is the second half of the summer and autumn where they can enjoy different colours of trees and also can forest fruit picking.
